(LEBANON, Ill., May 28)- The McKendree University bass fishing team used its recent success at the Cabela's Collegiate National Championship to move up one spot to No. 8 in the latest Association of Collegiate Anglers School of the Year standings.

There are over 300 schools competing this season in the School of the Year standings. The School of the Year program is built to reward teams that compete with the Association of Collegiate Anglers (ACA) in the Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Series, as well as select national Carhartt College B.A.S.S and FLW events. The respective championship events for each series will count towards the Cabela's School of the Year program as well. In addition to the three national collegiate fishing trails, the ACA will also award points for select ACA-sanctioned events throughout the season. There are 300 schools competing this season in the School of the Year standings.

The Bearcats had all three of its teams competing at the national championship finish in the top 100 of the 160 boat field. Dustin Pendergraft and Shane Campbell (Highland, Ill./Highland High School) finished in 31st place at the event, while Curtis Lilly (Sterling, Ill./Sterling) and Brock Wilke (St. Rose, Ill./Mater Dei Catholic High School) finished in 69th place. Trenton Robinson (Havana, Ill./Lewistown) and Jordan Ledbetter (Carlyle, Ill./Carlyle High School) finished in 96th place at the tournament.

McKendree will have seven teams competing on May 28-30 at the Bassmaster Carhartt Midwestern Region qualifier on the Mississippi River in La Crosse, Wis.
