(Indianapolis, Ind., Nov. 5) –
The McKendree University women's soccer team continues its chase for its first Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament championship as they will face Rockhurst University on Sunday, Nov. 6 at noon ET at Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana for the title match.

McKendree is coming off a 0-0 draw in which the Bearcats advanced on penalties 4-1 to defeat Truman State in the GLVC Tournament semifinal round. This is the Bearcats first GLVC championship match appearance since they have joined the conference in 2012.

"Rockhurst is the number two seed, they're a tough team," said women's head soccer coach Tim Strange. "The first time we played them we played a good first half, they just played a better second. Hoping to steal a goal and have an opportunity to win the match."

As a team, McKendree leads the GLVC in goals with 40. Entering Friday's contest, the Bearcats are second in the conference in points with 114, and in assists with 34, trailing Rockhurst in both categories.

Individually, Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) leads the conference in goals with 16. This ranks her tenth nationally in DII. Carroll also leads the conference in game-winning goals with nine. Chelsea Whittaker (Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand/St Hilda's Collegiate School) is currently tied in third in the GLVC with six assists.

Scouting the Hawks: Rockhurst enters Sunday's match 14-1-4 overall. The Hawks currently lead the conference in points with 119 and assists with 41, while second in goals, one behind McKendree at 39. Kaley Neiters leads the Hawk offense with 22 points on the season contributing nine goals. Kristin Wolff and Courtney Silberberg also contribute with 15 points of their own.

Last Meeting: Earlier this season, on Oct. 14 Rockhurst delivered the Bearcats their fourth loss of the 2016 campaign. In the match, Rockhurst outshot McKendree 24-5. In the 41st minute of play Mia Zanaboni put the Hawks on the board as she placed a shot inside the left post. Brandi Vollmer would increase the lead to 2-0 for Rockhurst as she netted a goal from 22 yards out. Chelsea Whittaker (Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand/St Hilda's Collegiate School) would rally the Bearcats in the 84th minute as she headed a ball into the back of the net on Brooke Coakley (Granite City, IL/Granite City)'s corner kick. McKendree's late rush would come up short as the Bearcats fell 2-1.

NCAA Outlook: The winner of the GLVC Tournament championship match will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA will announce the at-large bids into the tournament during the selection show on Monday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. ET.
