(EAST PEORIA, Ill., May 3)—The McKendree University softball team dropped a 10-0 decision to the University of Southern Indiana in second-round action at the 2018 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament Thursday afternoon at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Ill.
The Screaming Eagles, the No. 6 seed in this year's tournament, jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning and pulled away to send the Bearcats to their first loss in the double-elimination tournament. McKendree, the No. 25-ranked team in NCAA Division II, slips to 38-15 on the year. The Bearcats will take on eighth-seeded Missouri S&T to open Friday's action at the GLVC Tournament. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.

Shelby Summer (Washington, IL/Washington) each added a hit against the Screaming Eagles.
Southern Indiana (29-22) broke from the gates quickly with a seven-run first inning. The Screaming Eagles then added a run in the second and two more tallies in the third to close out the scoring in the contest.
