Junior libero Maddie Kelly was selected as the GLVC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for her play during the Bearcats' championship effort at the Arkansas Tech University Spikefest in Russellville, Ark., this past weekend. McKendree won all four of its matches in the round-robin event, and finished as the only undefeated team in the tournament.
 
Kelly helped anchor the back row in the four victories. She handled a team-high 91 digs for an average of 5.4 per set. Kelly showed her consistency in the effort with 22, 22, 23 and 24 digs, respectively. Her 24-dig tally came as the Bearcats rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat host Arkansas Tech to finish off the perfect weekend. Kelly also collected her only three service aces of the season to date in the Arkansas Tech match.
 
For the season, Kelly leads McKendree with 159 digs and is averaging nearly five digs per set. She has handled nearly one-third of the Bearcats' total digs in 2012.
