Home Facility of the McKendree University Baseball team

Hypes Field is the home facility fo the McKendree University Baseball team.

The field has bleacher seating available for approximately 500 fans, additionally to ample space for lawn chairs around the perimeter of the field. Concessions are available in the Melvin Price Convocation Center (MPCC).

Parking for the field us available in the north and south parking lot of the MPCC directly adjacent to the third base line.

Located south of the bleachers and the home team dugout, is the new additional pitcher’s practice mound.


While the Bearcats were member of the NAIA from 1988-2011, they won 13 American Midwest Conference (AMC) Championships, including seven-consecutive AMC tournament titles from 2000-2006. The team recorded a 270-93 record under Jim Boehne and won over 74 percent of their come contests. 

In the 2012-13 academic year, McKendree University transitioned into Division II status and their competition in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).

The Bearcats have posted an 6-9 (2-1 GLVC) record under Head Coach Andrew Stepp, since his addition in 2020. The 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the most recent season, the Bearcats posted a .667 winning percentage in home games. Since the transition into DII status, they have posted an overall 62-102 home field record.
