(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 26)—The McKendree College men's soccer team tied their 2005 regular season finale, a 2-2 tie with the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

In an evenly matched game, the difference was Missouri-St. Louis' ability to capitalize on their scoring chances. Missouri-St. Louis got on the board late in the first-half when Chris Paasch scored with just 10-minutes remaining in the half.
The Rivermen added an insurance goal with just two-minutes left in the first-half when Jared Smith put in a rebound shot, making the score 2-0.
McKendree cut the lead to 2-1 when Jay Stremlau (St. Louis, Missouri/St. Mary's) scored on a head-ball at the 76-minute mark. Bearcat Gareth Batchelor (Southampton, Hampshire/Tauntons) started the play with a corner kick into the box which Santiago Duran (Montevideo, Uraguay/) headed to an open Stremlau.

McKendree pressured the Rivermen late in the game and scratched the game-tying goal with just 1:33 remaining on the clock. Bearcat Gareth Batchelor (Southampton, Hampshire/Tauntons) drove a shot from 25 yards out for the goal, tying the score and sending the game into overtime.
In overtime neither team was able to get any scoring chances, leading to a 2-2 double overtime tie.
McKendree is now 10-5-3 overall and will be in action again Nov. 3 when they take on the University of Illinois-Springfield in the first-round of the American Midwest Conference post-season play-in. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
