(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 15)—The McKendree College women’s soccer team posted a 5-0 Senior Day victory Sunday at home against Brescia University.
Seniors scored all five Bearcat goals as McKendree, the No. 16 team in the NAIA, won its ninth consecutive match. McKendree improves to 12-3 overall and will be in St. Louis on Monday for an American Midwest Conference match against Harris-Stowe State University. The contest is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
Senior forward
Jenna Shellenberg (Troy, Ill./Triad) (Troy, Ill./Triad) became the Bearcats’ all-time leading scorer when she netted her 13
th goal in the 53
rd minute of play. Shellenberg now has 111 points at McKendree, two more than Kasey Stogsdill, who collected 109 points while playing for the Bearcats from 2001-04.
Exactly seven minutes into the game, senior midfielder
Meghan Rooney (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) opened the scoring when she redirected a pass from senior forward
Ray Ray Cole (Raytown, Mo./St. Teresa's) (Raytown, Mo./St. Teresa’s). Senior midfielder
Katie Hubbard (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) also assisted on the goal.
Cole scored her first goal of the game in the 27th minute when she took a pass down the left sideline from Hubbard and buried a shot in the right corner of the net. McKendree led 2-0 at the half before Shellenberg’s record-setting tally extended the lead to 3-0.
Hubbard scored her fourth goal of the season on a loose ball in front of the Brescia goal in the 61
st minute of play. Cole then capped off the scoring just three minutes later when she pounced on a rebound and collected her 10

Seniors
Natalie Jameson (Troy, Ill./Triad) (Troy, Ill./Triad) and
Jill Wolfmeier (Millstadt, Ill./Belleville West) (Millstadt, Ill./Belleville West) each played a half in goal for McKendree. They both worked behind a Bearcat defense that allowed just one shot, which came in the final five seconds of play. In contrast, the Bearcats ripped off 29 shots, including 17 on goal.
Prior to the contest, McKendree honored its 11 senior players. In addition to Shellenberg, Rooney, Cole, Hubbard, Jameson and Wolfmeier, the honorees included defenders
