(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 21)—The McKendree College volleyball team had its five-match win streak snapped Friday evening at Missouri Baptist University. The Spartans, ranked No. 8 in the latest NAIA poll, swept the American Midwest Conference match by scores of 30-18, 30-24 and 30-25.

 

The Bearcats drop to 21-12 overall and 7-4 in the AMC. McKendree will return to action Tuesday with a conference match at Williams Baptist College. The contest is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

 

Against Missouri Baptist, senior outside hitter Codi Dempster (Poplar Bluff, Mo./Twin Rivers) (Poplar Bluff, Mo./Twin Rivers) led the way for McKendree with nine kills. Freshman outside hitter Lisa Witte (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) added six kills for the Bearcats, while junior setter Allison DeGroot (Highland, Ill./Highland) (Highland, Ill./Highland) posted a team-high 20 assists. Senior libero Marcy Gibson (Carbondale, Ill./Salem) (Salem, Ill./Salem) handled 15 digs for McKendree.
