MEN’S SOCCER DEFEATED AT HOME BY LINDENWOOD, 4-0

(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 23)—The McKendree College men’s soccer team was shut out at home Monday by Lindenwood University, 4-0.
 
Lindenwood, the No. 15 team in the latest NAIA poll, scored three goals in the first 23 minutes of action, to pull away for the victory. The loss sends the Bearcats to 9-6-2 on the year. McKendree will wrap up its 2006 regular season schedule Thursday at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
 
The Lions grabbed a 1-0 lead just 1:57 into the match on a goal by Gerardo Chavez. Lindenwood tacked on scores in the 14th and 24th minutes to build a 3-0 lead in the first half. The Lions added their final goal of the contest on a penalty kick with just 2:39 remaining.
 
Juniors Santiago Hampton (Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. George's) (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Scott Genz (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) split time in goal for McKendree, with Hampton taking the loss. Hampton made one save for the Bearcats, while Genz had three stops.
