(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 27)—Six different players scored a goal as the McKendree College women’s soccer team rolled to a 6-0 victory Thursday at Harris-Stowe State University.
The Bearcats tied a team record set last season by winning their 12th consecutive match. In addition, McKendree earned its 17th consecutive victory in American Midwest Conference competition, including its 11th straight league win by shutout. McKendree, the No. 14 team in the NAIA, closes out the 2006 regular season with an overall record of 15-3-0 and a 4-0-0 mark in the AMC.
By winning the AMC regular-season championship, McKendree earns an automatic bid to the NAIA Region V Tournament. The Bearcats will host a regional semifinal contest on Monday, Nov. 6 against an opponent yet to be determined. The match at Leemon Field will begin at 1 p.m.
At Harris-Stowe, senior forward
Jenna Shellenberg (Troy, Ill./Triad) (Troy, Ill./Triad) led the scoring frenzy for McKendree. She notched her 15
th goal of the season off a pass from senior midfielder
Laura Raymond (O' Fallon, Mo./St. Dominic) (O’Fallon, Mo./St. Dominic). Shellenberg now has 47 career goals, which is just one off the Bearcats’ all-time record. Kasey Stogsdill netted 48 goals at McKendree from 2001-04.
