Scott Roberts (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) pumped in four goals to lead the McKendree College hockey team to an 8-6 victory Friday at home against Bradley University. The contest was played at the U.S. Ice Sports Complex in Fairview Heights.
Roberts also had a pair of assists in helping the Bearcats extend their win streak to seven games. The Bearcats are now 9-3 overall and will meet Bradley again Saturday at 3 p.m. in Fairview Heights.
The visiting Braves grabbed a 1-0 lead before the Bearcats grabbed the lead for good with three goals to take a 3-1 lead at the first intermission. Roberts scored all four of his goals in the second period, including a tally with six seconds left in the period as McKendree built a 7-3 lead. Bradley tried to rally as a two-goal outburst midway through the final period helped the Braves rally within 8-6. But the Bearcats’ defense held Bradley in check over the final nine minutes.
Freshman
Anthony Millatti (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) collected 34 saves to pick up the victory in goal for McKendree.
