(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 21)—The McKendree College men’s basketball team kept its perfect home record intact with an 82-59 victory Tuesday at home against Greenville College.
Sophomore forward
Nick Livas (Cary, Ill./Prairie Ridge) (Cary, Ill./Prairie Ridge) connected for a game-high 19 points to lead McKendree to its third home win in as many tries in 2006-07. The Bearcats improve to 4-2 overall and will play at home Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Benedictine College.
McKendree shot 54.8 percent (12-of-32) in the opening half to build a 40-30 lead at the intermission. The Bearcats took control at the outset of the second half by scoring the first 11 points of the period to grab a 51-30 advantage with 16:54 to play. McKendree led by as many as 26 points in coasting to the non-conference win.
Sophomore guard
Eric Palm (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem) (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem) added 18 points for McKendree, while senior forward
Mike Strobbe (Ferguson, Mo./McCluer) (Ferguson, Mo./McCluer) posted 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Christopher Simmons and Ben Hensold each had 12 points to lead Greenville, which drops to 0-3 on the year.
