(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 7)—The McKendree College wrestling team closed out the home portion of its 2005-06 schedule with a 33-13 dual match victory Tuesday against Bacone College at the Melvin Price Convocation Center.

      McKendree, the No. 13-ranked team in the latest NAIA poll, pinned four opponents and won another match via forfeit to complete a perfect season at home in 2005-06. The Bearcats, who were 3-0 at the MPCC this season, improve to 4-5 on the year. McKendree will finish its regular season Wednesday with a dual match at Central Missouri State University. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

      Against Bacone, junior Josh Blackburn (Sadorus, Ill./Tolono Unity) (Sadorus, Ill./Tolono Unity) gave McKendree the lead for good when he pinned the Warriors’ Travis Kirby in 2:21. Junior Clay Weier (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) followed with a 9-5 decision at 165 pounds before Brandon Wyms (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) collected the Bearcats’ second win by pinfall. He needed just 1:46 to defeat Bacone’s Tim Flick at 174 pounds.

      Junior Trevor Maloch (Corona, Calif./Santiago) (Corona, Calif./Santiago) won the heavyweight match with a pin at the 2:43 mark before sophomore Kyle Jahn (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) earned the Bearcats’ final win of the night via pin. Jahn, the NAIA’s top-ranked wrestler at 133 pounds, improved to 20-2 on the year with a pin of Mike Miller -- the No. 3-ranked NAIA wrestler in the same weight class -- in 4:10.

      McKendree’s other victory of the night came at 184 pounds, where junior Adam Hicks (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) won by forfeit.

      This is the first time in the three-year history of the McKendree wrestling program that the team posted an undefeated home record in dual match competition.
