(BALDWIN CITY, Kan., Sept. 9)—McKendree College closed out its stay at the Baker University volleyball Invitational with a four-game loss to Benedictine College Saturday afternoon in Baldwin City, Kan. After the Bearcats took the first game, 30-19, the Ravens rallied to take the final three games and the match, 30-28, 30-16 and 33-31.

 

McKendree finished the Baker Invitational with a 2-2 record. McKendree is now 2-3 overall and will host Hannibal-LaGrange College in the Bearcats’ 2006 home opener Tuesday at 7 p.m.

     

Senior outside hitter Codi Dempster (Poplar Bluff, Mo./Twin Rivers) (Poplar Bluff, Mo./Twin Rivers) was the only McKendree to reach double figures in kills with 11. Senior defensive specialist Marcy Gibson (Carbondale, Ill./Salem) (Salem, Ill./Salem) notched 18 digs, while junior setter Allison DeGroot (Highland, Ill./Highland) collected 34 assists.
