(FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill., Sept. 29)—Sophomore center Charlie Donze (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) scored three goals in leading the McKendree College hockey team to a 9-5 victory Friday night at home against Northwestern University.

 

Donze scored two of his goals in the first period to help the Bearcats build a 3-0 lead. McKendree never looked back to improve to 3-3 overall. The Bearcats will meet Northwestern again Saturday at 3 p.m. at the U.S. Ice Sports Complex in Fairview Heights.

 

Junior center Scott Roberts (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) added two goals and three assists in Friday’s victory, while sophomore center/wing Nick Dreyer (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) also tallied a pair of goals. Senior defenseman Brent Grimm (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) (O’Fallon, Ill./O’Fallon) chipped in with a goal and three assists for the Bearcats. Senior wing Brian Neighbors (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) scored the other goal for McKendree.

 

Junior Ryan Ahlemeyer (Cahokia, Ill./Cahokia) (Cahokia, Ill./Cahokia) made 33 saves to pick up the win in goal for McKendree.
