(ST. LOUIS, Mo., Jan. 18)—The McKendree College women’s basketball team lost its second consecutive American Midwest Conference game with a 92-71 defeat Thursday at Harris-Stowe State University.
The host Hornets snapped a 28-game losing streak against the Bearcats that dated back to the 1992-93 season. Harris-Stowe improved to 4-13 overall and 2-1 in the AMC, while McKendree slips to 10-7 on the year and 1-2 in the conference.

Katie Hasheider (Okawville, Ill./Okawville) (Okawville, Ill./Okawville) added 10 points for the Bearcats. Other game statistics were not available at press time.
The teams traded baskets in the early stages of the first half before Harris-Stowe used a 20-3 run to take the lead for good, 32-17, with eight minutes left in the period. McKendree surged back and pulled to within 42-34 at the half, but the host Hornets regained its momentum and pulled away over the final 20 minutes for the victory.
Chanel Ross poured in a game-high 29 points to lead Harris-Stowe. Laniya Stevens came off the bench to score 21 points, while Biranda Griffin notched 10 points for the Hornets. Harris-Stowe held a 46-26 edge in bench scoring in the contest.
McKendree will play host to Williams Baptist Saturday in Lebanon. Tip-off at the Melvin Price Convocation Center is set for 5 p.m.
