(CHARLESTON, Ill., Jan. 27)—The McKendree College wrestling team won its second dual match in three days with a 23-15 decision Saturday night at Eastern Illinois University.
The Bearcats posted six individual wins over the Panthers to improve to 5-3 in dual match competition. McKendree will host Lindenwood University in its final home dual match of 2006-07 on Wednesday at the Melvin Price Convocation Center. The first match is set for 7 p.m.
At Eastern Illinois, senior
Clay Weier (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Belleville, Ill./Althoff Catholic) got the Bearcats off to a 4-0 lead with a 14-6 win at 165 pounds. The host Panthers took the next two matches before senior
Ben Laux (Alton, Ill./Alton) (Alton, Ill./Alton) earned a forfeit victory at 197 pounds, and senior
Trevor Maloch (Corona, Calif./Santiago) (Corona, Calif./Santiago) took a 2-0 victory in the heavyweight match to put McKendree in front to stay, 13-6.
After a forfeit win brought Eastern Illinois within 13-12, the Bearcats posted three consecutive victories to take command in the match. First, senior
Mike Miller (Lawton, Okla./) (Lawton, Okla.) earned a 6-3 win at 133 pounds before junior
Kyle Jahn (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) followed with a 12-3 victory at 141 pounds. Senior
Josh Blackburn (Sadorus, Ill./Tolono Unity) (Sadorus, Ill./Tolono Unity) returned from injury for an 8-2 win in the 149-pound match.
