(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 12) – The McKendree University women’s soccer team got more than they bargained for Friday night, but scored a goal in the second overtime period to defeat Hannibal-LaGrange College 2-1.
The Bearcats, now 9-2-2 overall on the season, travel to Overland Park, Kan. Sunday to play Friends University at Johnson County Community College at 1 p.m.

Sarah Ryan (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) got the Bearcats on the board first, putting an assist by freshman midfielder
Ilana Milkez (Bogota, Colombia/Lycee Francais) (Bogota, Colombia) past the Lady Trojans keeper for a 1-0 lead. Hannibal-LaGrange scored two minutes later to tie the game 1-1. McKendree missed chances to score in the second half, leaving the score 1-1 and moving to overtime. It wouldn’t be until the second overtime when Milkez took an assist from senior midfielder Lucy Elliot to end the game 2-1.

Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) played all 103 minutes in goal and had two saves in the win.
