McKENDREE VOLLEYBALL GETS BACK ON TRACK WITH WINS OVER HARRIS-STOWE AND OAKLAND CITY

(LEBANON, Ill. – Oct. 20) – The McKendree University volleyball team regrouped after two losses Friday night to win both their matches Saturday against Harris-Stowe State University and Oakland City University. Both wins came in three games.
 
McKendree improved to 19-12 overall and 7-4 in the American Midwest Conference. The Bearcats return to action Tuesday night at 5 p.m. for an American Midwest Conference match against Williams Baptist College.  The team will also celebrate senior night Tuesday between the second and third game.

McKendree opened up the day with an AMC match against Harris-Stowe and won the match 30-25, 30-13, and 30-17. Sophomore outside hitter Lisa Witte (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) led the team with nine kills and also had nine digs. Senior setter Allison DeGroot (Highland, Ill./Highland) (Highland, Ill./Highland) had 22 assists and 13 digs, while senior libero Courtney Aldridge (Dupo, Ill./Dupo) (Dupo, Ill./Dupo) led the team with 16 digs. Junior middle-hitter Katelyn Kombrink (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) (O’Fallon, Ill./O’Fallon) and junior setter Lindsay Amerson (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) both had eight kills in the match.
 
In their second match, the Bearcats defeated Oakland City University 30-20, 30-21, 30-13. Witte had 11 kills and 16 digs in the match. Junior setter Dana Maedge (Highland, Ill./Highland) (Highland, Ill./Highland) and DeGroot both led the team with 19 assists and Aldridge had 19 digs.
