(ST. CHARLES, Mo., Oct. 22) – The McKendree Bearcats women’s soccer team prevailed Monday night in a defensive showdown at Lindenwood University scoring a goal with 3:34 left in regulation for the win.
Senior midfielder
Lucy Elliott (Southampton, England/Taunton's) (Southampton, England) scored the game-winning goal for the Bearcats in the 87
th minute for the win. The goal was Elliott’s fifth of the season and first game-winning goal of her career at McKendree. The main difference in the game was the defense of freshman goalkeeper
Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain). Lindenwood outshot McKendree 10-7 in shots on goal, but Yanko’s 10 saves helped the Bearcats to the shutout victory.
The Bearcats host Lewis University Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Leemon Field for their final game of the regular season.
