BEARCATS MOVE TO 2-0 IN AMC PLAY, DEFEAT MISSOURI BAPTIST 4-1

Schoon scored two goals in the win
(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 3) – The McKendree University women’s soccer team scored four first half goals to cruise to a 4-1 win over Missouri Baptist. The Missouri Baptist goal was the first conference goal given up by the women’s team in over 1,108 consecutive minutes.
 
The Bearcats, now 2-0 in the American Midwest Conference and 7-2-1 overall on the season, will travel to Central Methodist University Saturday at 6 p.m.

Junior forward Jenni Schoon (Morton, Ill./Morton) (Morton, Ill./Morton) scored two goals in the win, scoring her first goal unassisted 44-seconds into the game and her second off an assist by senior back Nicole Chappell (Highland, Ill./Triad) (Highland, Ill./Triad). Senior forward Ashlee Ritchie (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) took  an assist by freshman midfielder Kyla Nighohossian (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) to score in the fourth minute and sophomore midfielder Sarah Ryan (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) scored the Bearcats final goal on an assist by senior midfielder Lucy Elliot (Southampton, England).

Freshman Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) played all 90 minutes in goal and had three saves in the win.
