(FAYETTE, Mo. – Oct. 6) – The McKendree Bearcats defense held Central Methodist to only two shots Saturday night on their way to a 5-0 shutout win.

 

McKendree travels to Columbia College Tuesday for an American Midwest Conference game at 7 p.m.

Senior forward Cole Harres (Belleville, Illinois/Belleville West) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) opened up the scoring with an unassisted goal early in the first half to give the Bearcats an early 1-0 advantage. Senior midfielder Jarius Holmes (O' Fallon, Ill./O' Fallon) (O’Fallon, Ill./O’Fallon) scored his first goal of the game off an assist by senior back/midfielder Gareth Batchelor (Southampton, Hampshire/Tauntons) (Southampton, England) to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead into the half. Holmes opened up the second half with another goal, this time unassisted, to give the Bearcats a 3-0 advantage. Freshman forward Bill Puckett (Southampton. England/Tauntons) (Southampton, England) and junior forward Eric Friedrich (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) each scored an unassisted goal in the second half to end the game with a 5-0 win.

Senior goalkeeper Santiago Hampton (Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. George's) (Buenos Aires, Argentina) played all 90 minutes in goal and got the shutout win.
