WOMEN’S SOCCER DEFEATS CENTRAL METHODIST 5-0 SATURDAY

(FAYETTE, Mo., Oct. 6) – The McKendree University women’s soccer team found the back of the net four times in the first half Saturday, cruising to a 5-0 win over Central Methodist University.
 
The Bearcats, now 8-2-1 overall on the season, will travel to Baker University Sunday at 2 p.m.

Freshman midfielder Ilana Milkez (Bogota, Colombia/Lycee Francais) (Bogota, Colombia) struck first for the Bearcats putting a pass from senior forward Ashlee Ritchie (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) past the keeper for a 1-0 lead. Junior forward Jenni Schoon (Morton, Ill./Morton) (Morton, Ill./Morton) scored her first of two goals off an assist by senior back Brittany Fuzessery (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City). Milkez and Ritchie were involved in another goal in the first half, but this time Ritchie scored off the assist from Milkez for a 3-0 lead. Schoon scored her second goal unassisted to give the Bearcats a 4-0 lead heading into the half. Sophomore Sarah Ryan (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) scored the Bearcats fifth and final goal midway through the second half, giving the Bearcats a 5-0 win.
 
Junior Amanda LaGrow (Morton, Ill./Morton) (Morton, Ill./Morton) played all 90 minutes in goal and had four saves in the shutout win, improving her record to 2-0 on the season.
