(HANNIBAL, Mo., Oct. 9)—The McKendree University volleyball team posted an American Midwest Conference victory Tuesday night at Hannibal-LaGrange College. The Bearcats needed four games in the best-of-five match, but won by scores of 30-21, 15-30, 30-24 and 30-26.
McKendree moved to 17-6 overall and 6-2 in AMC play. The Bearcats will host a tri-match on Friday, opening play with the University of Illinois at Springfield at 3 p.m. before taking on Trevecca Nazarene University at 7 p.m.
At Hannibal-LaGrange, sophomore outside hitter
Dani Collins (Freeburg, Ill./Freeburg) (Freeburg, Ill./Freeburg) had a team-high 16 kills to lead McKendree. Junior middle hitter
Katelyn Kombrink (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) (O’Fallon, Ill./O’Fallon) chipped in with 13 kills and three service aces for the Bearcats.
Senior setter
Allison DeGroot (Highland, Ill./Highland) (Highland, Ill./Highland) handed out a team-leading 32 assists, and senior defensive specialist
Hannah Burleson (Dexter, Mo./Dexter) (Dexter, Mo./Dexter) posted a season-high 27 digs in the winning effort.
Hannibal-LaGrange slips to 4-16 overall and 1-4 in the AMC.
