(LEBANON, Ill., March 26)—The McKendree College women’s tennis team had its season-opening four-match win streak snapped Monday afternoon by Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. The Lady Cougars edged the Bearcats 5-4 in non-conference action at Edwardsville, Ill.
McKendree and SIU-Edwardsville split their six singles matches on the day, with the Lady Cougars taking two of three doubles contests to post the victory. The loss drops McKendree to 4-1 on the season, while SIU-Edwardsville climbs to 5-6 overall.
McKendree will return to the courts Saturday with an NAIA Region V contest at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan. The match is set for a 10 a.m. start.
