(LEBANON, Ill., March 3)—The McKendree College men’s tennis team was swept in its first dual match of the season Saturday at home by Benedictine College, 9-0. The contest was played at St. Clair Tennis Club in O’Fallon.
Playing at No. 1 singles, senior
Daniel Quinn (Melbourne, Australia/Lewis and Clark CC) (Melbourne, Australia) won the first set of his match with Sersey Plotmikou, 6-4. However, Plotmikou rallied to win the final two sets to take the match, 7-6 and 6-2. Freshman Caio Tortato (Sao Paulo, Brazil) also went three sets in his match at No. 3 singles, but lost in a tie-breaker.
McKendree will return to action Monday when it hosts the University of Illinois at Springfield. The match at St. Clair Tennis Club will begin at 3 p.m.
