(LEBANON, Ill., April 13)—The McKendree College men’s tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision Thursday in regional action at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan. The Bearcats slip to 3-5 overall with the loss.
Both of the Bearcats’ victories came in singles play against the Wildcats. Senior
Daniel Quinn (Melbourne, Australia/Lewis and Clark CC) (Melbourne, Australia) rolled to a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles, while freshman Daniel Gonzales (Lima, Peru) needed three sets to pick up the win at No. 4 singles, 3-6, 6-2 and 10-6.
McKendree will be off until Wednesday, April 18, when it travels to Springfield, Ill., for a match against the University of Illinois at Springfield. Match time is at 3 p.m. The winner of Wednesday’s match will represent the American Midwest Conference at the NAIA Region V Tournament, which is set for next weekend, April 27-28, in St. Joseph, Mo.
