(FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill., April 25)- The McKendree College women’s golf team shot a 764 over two days of play at the Region V/American Midwest Conference/Heart of America Athletic Conference-joint tournament, held at Stonewolf Golf Club in Fairview Heights, Ill.

 

After shooting a 386 on day one, the Bearcats shot a 378 on day two but remained five strokes back from fourth place overall finisher Avila University. Lindenwood University finished in first place overall, shooting a two-day total of 689, eight strokes ahead of second place finisher  and AMC champion William Woods University (697).

 

The 36-hole tournament served as a qualifier for the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship, held May 15-18 at Lake San Marcos Country Club in San Diego, Calif.  The Region V Tournament championship team and medalists both qualified for a trip to the National Tournament and any returning individuals who finished in the Top-15 at the 2006 National Tournament also qualified.
