(WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – Sept. 17) – The McKendree men’s soccer team opened its American Midwest Conference slate Monday with a 7-0 win at Williams Baptist College.

 

McKendree improves to 1-0 in the AMC and 6-1 overall with the win, while Williams Baptist fell to 0-2 in the AMC and 1-4 overall.

 

Senior midfielder Tim Dew (Winchester, Hampshire/Peter Symonds) (Winchester, England) led all players with two goals and sophomore midfielder Niko Klenk (Leimgarten, Germany) recorded one goal and two assists. Freshmen forward’s Bill Puckett (Southampton. England/Tauntons) (Southampton, England) and Max Stainmez (Holland, Ontario, Canada/Denison) (Holland, Ontario, Canada), and senior midfielder’s Bobby Barger (Troy, Illinois/Triad) (Troy, Ill./Triad) and Gareth Batchelor (Southampton, Hampshire/Tauntons) (Southampton, England) all scored a goal a piece in the win. Assisting on goals were senior midfielder Jarius Holmes (O' Fallon, Ill./O' Fallon) (O’Fallon, Ill./O’Fallon), junior forward Eric Frierdich (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) and freshman back Sam James (Southampton. England/Tauntons) (Southampton, England).

 

Senior Brad Dietrich (Belleville, Illinois/Belleville West) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bearcats and recorded one save improving his record to 3-0 on the season.

 

The Bearcats return home to play Culver-Stockton College at 3 p.m. on September 26^th at Leemon Field.
