(GREENVILLE, Ill., Sept. 29)—The McKendree University volleyball team battled its way to a non-conference victory Saturday afternoon at Greenville College. The Bearcats needed four games to post the victory by scores of 30-24, 30-20, 29-31 and 30-20.
The win leaves McKendree with an overall record of 15-2. The Bearcats will step back into American Midwest Conference play Wednesday with a match at Missouri Baptist University. First serve in St. Louis is set for 7 p.m.
Playing its third match in three days, McKendree was led by 21 kills from sophomore outside hitter
Lisa Witte (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles). She also added 15 digs. Junior middle hitter
Katelyn Kombrink (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) (O’Fallon, Ill./O’Fallon) contributed 11 kills and four blocks, while senior middle hitter
Angie Clark (Charleston, Mo./Charleston) (Charleston, Mo./Charleston) had a team-leading six blocks for the Bearcats.
