BATCHELOR LEADS MCKENDREE TO 3-1 WIN OVER HARRIS-STOWE

(LEBANON, Ill. – Sept. 30) – The McKendree Bearcats used two goals by Gareth Batchelor (Southampton, Hampshire/Tauntons) to defeat Harris-Stowe State University 3-1 at Leemon Field Sunday night.
 
McKendree, now 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the American Midwest Conference, will host Missouri Baptist University at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Leemon Field.
 
Senior back/midfielder Gareth Batchelor (Southampton, Hampshire/Tauntons) (Southampton, England) gave the Bearcats an early 1-0 lead, scoring off an assist by senior midfielder Jarius Holmes (O' Fallon, Ill./O' Fallon) (O’Fallon, Ill./O’Fallon) in the fifth minute. The Hornet tied it up four minutes later, only for senior forward Cole Harres (Belleville, Illinois/Belleville West)) Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) to get the lead back on an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute. Batchelor would score the final McKendree goal in the 39th minute off an assist by freshman back Sam James (Southampton. England/Tauntons) (Southampton, England).

Senior goalkeeper Scott Genz (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) played all 90 minutes in goal and had one save.
 
The Bearcats had a 32-2 shot advantage over the Honrets in the win.
