HOCKEY WIN STREAK ENDS AT NINE AS MISSOURI STATE RALLIES PAST BEARCATS, 7-6

Charlie Donze picked up two goals and an assist in the Bearcats' loss on Saturday
(SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Jan. 21)—The McKendree University hockey team saw its win streak snapped at nine games with a 7-6 loss Saturday at Missouri State University.
 
The host Bears scored four consecutive goals in the third period to seal the victory and gain a split of the weekend series with McKendree. The Bearcats had posted a 7-3 win on Friday. McKendree slips to 16-6 overall with the loss and will play host to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Friday at 8 p.m. in Fairview Heights.
 
In Saturday’s contest, junior center Charlie Donze (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) and senior wing Nick Dreyer (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) each scored two goals to lead the Bearcats’ offensive attack. Senior center Scott Roberts (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) and junior David Klueskens (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill.) scored the other McKendree goals, while junior defenseman Chris Donahue (Levittown, Pa./Truman) (Levittown, Pa./Truman) and senior wing Kyle Ilges (Highland, Ill./Highland) (Highland, Ill./Highland) each chipped in with two assists.
 
Sophomore Mike Stier (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) collected 34 saves in taking the loss in goal for McKendree. Stier drops to 7-5 on the season.
