(Lebanon, Ill., Jan. 30)—The McKendree University wrestling team won their tenth dual meet of the season Wednesday night in strong fashion, shutting out Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville 43-0.

 

The Bearcats are currently ranked No. 2 in the NAIA and will travel to Marshall, Mo. to compete at the Missouri Valley Open, February 2^nd. Matches are set to begin at 10 am.

 

Starting in the heavyweight class, McKendree junior Dan Moore (Rolla, Mo./) (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) defeated Brian Brooks by a 3-0 decision. Following a forfeit win by sophomore AJ Ciccarelli (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) at 125 pounds, freshman Wade Lowe (Godfrey, Ill./) (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) and junior Jermaine Waye (Altama, Ga./) (Brunswick, Ga./Glynn Academy) both had wins by decision at 133 and 141 pounds by scores of 6-3 and 3-0, respectively.

 

At 149 pounds, freshman Ryan Jahn (Bolingbrook, Ill./) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) defeated Matt Mitchell by fall at the 1:44 mark. Freshman Dan Yuraitis (LaGrange, Mo./Quincy Notre Dame) won a 3-0 decision over Kyle Cunningham, followed by a win by fall by sophomore Aaron Winning (Highland, Ill./) (Highland, Ill./Althoff Catholic) at 165 pounds. Sophomore Josh Bryant (Tuttle, Okla./) (Tuttle, Okla./Tuttle) would take a 10-0 major decision over Dan Midgett at 174 pounds and after a forfeit win by junior Tom Edwards (Belleville, Ill./) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) at 184 pounds, freshman Andrew Sanchez (Shiloh, Ill./) (Shiloh, Ill./O’Fallon) sealed the shutout victory for the Bearcats with a 3-0 decision win over Chris Flaugher.
