(Lebanon, Ill., Oct. 23) – The No. 9 McKendree University men's soccer team got all they could handle Thursday night from Missouri Baptist University but scored a goal in the 107th minute for an AMC victory.
The Bearcats, 12-2-1 overall and 5-1 in the American Midwest Conference, will host Lindenwood University October 28th at 7 p.m.
The game was a back and forth affair for the majority of the contest. It wasn't until the second overtime when sophomore forward Max Stainmez (Holland, Ontario, Canada/Denison) (Hollands Landing, Ontario, Canada) took a long pass from freshman midfielder Fraser Williams (Rhondda, England/) (Rhondda, England) and put it past the Spartan keeper for his ninth goal and third game-winning goal of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Joe Sagar (Oldham, England/Hulme) (Oldham, England) played 103:40 in goal, but a collision with a Missouri Baptist player on a slide forced him to leave the game. Junior Braden Posey (Bolingbrook, Ill./Naperville Central) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Naperville Central) came in for the remainder of the game and would pick up his first win of the season. Sagar had five saves in the contest and Posey had one.
