(Lebanon, Ill., Oct. 24) – The No. 17 McKendree University women's soccer defeated Harris-Stowe State University 9-0 Friday night in an American Midwest Conference match.
McKendree, now 14-0-1 overall and 9-0 in the AMC, will host No. 18 Lindenwood University on October 28th at 5 p.m.
McKendree scored three goals in the first seven minutes of the contest and never looked back. Senior Erin Spotanski (Troy, Ill./Triad) (Troy, Ill./Triad) and sophomore Theresa Kaiser (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline) both had two goals for McKendree. Sophomore Ashley Varns (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood), junior Katelyn Cleveland (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville), freshman Sulyn Keomanivane (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City), freshman Jess Augustine (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo), and sophomore Sam Hartman (Troy, Ill./Triad) (Troy, Ill./Triad) provided the remainder of the scoring. Junior Alex Adams (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) had two assists in the victory and sophomores Ilana MiIkez (Bogota, Colombia), Sarah Eckelkamp (Arnold, Mo./Fox) (Arnold, Mo./Fox), along with Varns and Hartman also had assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) improved to 14-0-1 on the season after playing 32 minutes and freshmen Sarah Luecking (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) and Cassie Lofink (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./ Granite City) played 33 and 23 minutes, respectively. The trio earned the shutout.
