(Lebanon, Ill., Oct. 30) – On Halloween night it couldn't have been more fitting for the McKendree University Bearcats to receive a scare from Hannibal-LaGrange College in the last American Midwest Conference game of the season. Sophomore Theresa Kaiser (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) provided the best treat of the night on a goal off a corner kick with 23-seconds left to give the Bearcats the 2-1 win.
No. 17 McKendree, now 16-0-1 overall (10-0 AMC), hosts NCAA Division II Drury University Tuesday, November 4th at 5:30 p.m. The Bearcats will celebrate senior night before the contest.
The Trojans broke the scoreless tie in the 56th minute on a goal by Adriana Perez from Jasman Edmond. The Bearcats tied the game in the 69th minute on a goal by freshman Sulyn Keomanivane (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) from junior Katelyn Cleveland (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville). The game appeared to be headed for overtime until Kaiser (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline) put a corner kick into the top left corner of the goal for the game-winning goal.
Sophomore Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) improved to 16-0-1 on the season and had one save in the win.
