(Lebanon, Ill., Nov. 5)—The No. 3 McKendree University wrestling team started their dual season off on the right foot Wednesday night by defeating No. 18 Campbellsville University 30-11.

The Bearcats next match is November 12th when they host first-year program Hannibal-LaGrange College at 7 p.m.

The dual began at 141 pounds where McKendree's Jermaine Waye (Altama, Ga./) (Brunswick, Ga./Glynn Academy) won a 3-0 decision over Seth Lucas. The Tigers tied the score 3-3 with a win from Ruben Perez over Scott McQuiston (Mascoutah, Ill./) (Mascoutah, Ill./Mascoutah) by decision 6-5 at 149 pounds. McKendree won the next two matches at 157 and 165 pounds by fall to take a 15-3 lead. McKendree's Jeremy Ellingwood (Plainfield, Ill./) (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) defeated James Linker by fall at 4:53 and Aaron Winning (Highland, Ill./) (Highland, Ill./Althoff Catholic) defeated John Ashbrook by fall in 39-seconds. McKendree's Harry Joseph (West Palm Beach, Fla./) (West Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens) won a 8-4 decision at 174 pounds over Phillip Oudhuis to take an 18-3 lead. McKendree's Tanner Wolk (Ste. Genevieve, Mo./) (Ste. Genevieve, Mo./Ste. Genevieve) pinned Spencer Adams 4:23 in the match, only for the Tigers to get a win by Glen Jackson over Chas Maloch (Corona, Calif./Santiago) (Corona, Calif./Santiago) to cut McKendree's lead to 24-6. Andrew Sanchez (Shiloh, Ill./) (Shiloh, Ill./O'Fallon) wrestled at heavyweight and picked up a 3-1 decision over Chad Brown. Campbellsville's Johnny Papesh defeated Tyler Orr (Mattoon, Ill./) (Mattoon, Ill./Mattoon) by fall at 5:49 to make the score 27-11, before Wade Lowe (Godfrey, Ill./) (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) won a 6-3 decision over Tommy Pretty to clinch the Bearcats 30-11 win.
