(Kenosha, Wis., Dec. 6)—The McKendree University wrestling team had eight wrestler's finish in the top six at the Wisconsin Open hosted by the University of Wisconsin at Parkside.
Sophomore Andrew Sanchez (Shiloh, Ill./) (Shiloh, Ill./O'Fallon) was the Bearcats top finisher, winning the 197 pound championship with a 2-1 decision over Malcom Briggs of Wisconsin-Parkside. Junior Zak Adomanis (Bowie, Md./Progressive Christian) (Bowie, Md./Progressive Christian), wrestling unattached, finished in second place at heavyweight and sophomore Wade Lowe (Godfrey, Ill./) (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) also finished in second place at 133 pounds. Earning fifth place finishes for McKendree were senior Jermaine Waye (Altama, Ga./) (Altama, Ga./Glynn Academy) at 141 pounds, sophomore Ryan Jahn (Bolingbrook, Ill./) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) at 149 pounds, and junior Brian Markway (Jefferson City, Mo./) (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) at 184 pounds. Rounding out the top six finishers for the Bearcats were freshman Kyle Williams (Mascoutah, Ill./) (Scott Air Force Base, Ill./Mascoutah) at 133 pounds and junior Aaron Winning (Highland, Ill./) (Highland, Ill./Althoff Catholic) at 165 pounds.
The Bearcats, currently No. 2 in the NAIA, travel to Champaign, Ill., on December 13th to face University of Illinois and the University of Findlay. Matches begin at 1 p.m.
