(LEBANON, Ill., Dec. 8)—The McKendree University hockey team collected its third consecutive win with a 5-2 victory Saturday at home against Bradley University.

The Bearcats rallied with four goals in the third period to pull away for the win. McKendree heads into the holiday break with an overall record of 13-4. The Bearcats will be away from the ice until Jan. 23, when they host Loyola University in an 8 p.m. contest at the U.S. Ice Sports Complex in Fairview Heights.

Junior center Charlie Donze (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) scored twice for McKendree, including the go-ahead goal with just under seven minutes to play. Junior goalie Mike Stier (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) turned in his second solid performance of the weekend as he stopped 22 shots by the Braves.

Bradley took a 1-0 lead after one period before Donze scored midway through the second period to even the score at 1-1. The Braves jumped out to a 2-1 on a goal with just four seconds remaining in the second period.

From there, McKendree took control. Senior defenseman Chris Donahue (Levittown, Pa./Truman) (Levittown, Pa./Truman) knotted the score at 2-2 off a pass from senior wing Nick Dreyer (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo). Donze then followed with his game winner a minute later for a 3-2 McKendree advantage. Senior defenseman Jordan Thompson (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade) (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade) added a goal later in the period, and senior center Scott Roberts (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) closed the match on a goal with just 58 seconds to play.
