(LEBANON, Ill. – FEB. 29) – The McKendree University women’s basketball team defeated Hannibal-LaGrange College, 84-37, Friday night in the quarterfinals of the American Midwest Conference tournament. The win is the eleventh in a row for the Bearcats.

 

McKendree improved to 22-8 overall and advanced to the semifinals next Tuesday and will host Missouri Baptist at 7 p.m. Hannibal-LaGrange ended their season with a record of 1-29.

 

Freshman guard Ashley Agee (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) (Moberly, Mo./Moberly) scored 24 points, including six three-pointers, to lead all players. Junior forward’s Emily Best (Wood River, Ill./East Alton-Wood River) (Wood River, Ill./East Alton-Wood River) and Julie Garrison (Centralia, Ill./Centralia) (Centralia, Ill./Centralia) scored 14 and 11 points, respectively. Kashundria Berry led the Lady Trojans with 13 points.

 

The top-seeded Bearcats scored 36 points off turnovers compared to Hannibal-LaGrange’s five in the game. McKendree led 40-21 after one half of play and held Hannibal-LaGrange to 16 points in the second half to cruise to the win.
