(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 4)—The McKendree University men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams took part in the Indiana Relays this past weekend in Bloomington, Ind.
On the men’s side, senior
Christopher Bethel (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Augustine) (Nassau, Bahamas) grabbed fourth place in the 60-meter hurdles. Bethel covered the distance in a time of 8.12 seconds. In the relay events, McKendree took seventh in the 4 x 800-meter race. The Bearcats’ squad of junior
Jermaine Myers (Manchester, Jamaica/Holmwood) (Manchester, Jamaica), sophomore Mike Mendez (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central), sophomore Jeff Brown (Marion, Ill./Marion) and senior
Keith Tebbe (Mount Olive, Ill./Mount Olive) (Mt. Olive, Ill./Mt. Olive) posted a time of 7:52.88 in the finals.
For the McKendree women’s team, junior Jamie Thomas (Calumet City, Ill.) had the highest finish of the event. Thomas was 18th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.95 seconds. Junior Sophy Yapsabila (Kampala, Uganda) was 26th in the 3,000-meter run with an effort of 10:40.26.
The McKendree indoor track and field program will return to action Saturday at the Illinois College Classic in Jacksonville, Ill.
