(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 8)—Senior wing
Nick Dreyer (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) collected four goals and added an assist as the McKendree University hockey team rolled to a 10-3 victory Friday at home against Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (Silver). The contest was played at the U.S. Ice Sports Complex in Fairview Heights.
The win was the 12th in the last 13 games for the Bearcats, who improve to 19-6 on the season. McKendree will close out the 2007-08 regular season Saturday at 3 p.m. with another contest against the SIU-Edwardsville silver squad in Fairview Heights.
Dreyer notched his third consecutive hat trick with his four-goal effort in Friday’s victory. He has recorded multiple goals in each of the last four McKendree contests. Dreyer pushed his team-leading goal total to 38 on the season. Friday’s contest also marked the sixth time in 2007-08 that the Bearcats scored at least 10 goals in a game.

Kyle Ilges (Highland, Ill./Highland) (Highland, Ill./Highland) added two goals for McKendree, while senior center
Scott Roberts (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) (Philadelphia, Pa./Bensalem) chipped in with a goal and three assists. Junior center
Charlie Donze (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Fairview Heights, Ill./Belleville East) handed out a team-high four assists in the match.
Friday’s game was tied 1-1 after one period before the Bearcats outscored the Cougars 6-1 in the middle period to take control of the match. Dreyer scored three times in the first 10 minutes of the period to help McKendree take a 6-1 lead. Senior wing
Ryan Haeffele (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) had the other goal during the spurt for the Bearcats.
After SIU-Edwardsville cut the margin to four goals, Ilges and junior wing
Zach Crawford (Springfield, Ill./Pleasant Plains) (Springfield, Ill./Pleasant Plains) wrapped up the second-period scoring for McKendree. Dreyer completed his four-goal night with an unassisted goal early in the third period. Junior defenseman/wing
