JAHN AND SANCHEZ REACH NATIONAL FINALS, McKENDREE IN THIRD PLACE HEADING INTO FINAL DAY AT NAIA WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP

Jahn will wrestle for a 141-pound championship Saturday night
(SIOUX CITY, Iowa. – March 7) – Senior Kyle Jahn (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) and freshman Andrew Sanchez (Shiloh, Ill./) (Shiloh, Ill./O’Fallon) will both wrestle for individual championships Saturday night at the NAIA wrestling championships. The Bearcats are currently in third place with 90 points, trailing leader Lindenwood University (116 pts.) and University of Great Falls (90.5 points).
 
Top-seeded Jahn reached the 141-pound finals after defeating Tyler Chang of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University by decision, 5-4, in overtime. He will face Adam Koballa of Notre Dame College for the championship. Sanchez, the No. 2 seed, defeated Glen Jackson of Campbellsville University by decision 2-1 in the semifinals and will face top-seed and two-time defending champion Justin Schlect of Dickinson State University for the 197-pound championship.
 
NAIA No. 6 Wade Lowe (Godfrey, Ill./) (Godfrey, Ill./Alton), lost his semifinal match to Dana College’s Burke Barnes by fall (0:54) and will face NAIA No. 8 Trevor Lofstedt of Southern Oregon University Saturday morning in the 133-pound consolation semifinals.
 
NAIA No. 7 Josh Bryant (Tuttle, Okla./) (Tuttle, Okla./Tuttle) lost a major decision, 21-7, to NAIA No. 1 Matt Cauley of Lindenwood University in the championship semifinals and will wrestle NAIA No. 3 Enock Francois of Northwestern College in the consolation semifinals.
 
Freshman Ryan Jahn (Bolingbrook, Ill./) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook), sophomore Aaron Winning (Highland, Ill./) (Highland, Ill./Althoff Catholic), and sophomore Zak Adomanis (Bowie, Md./Progressive Christian) (Bowie, Md./Progressive Christian) will be wrestling in seventh place matches in the 149, 165, and heavyweight divisions.
 
Matches will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday morning and championship matches will begin 7 p.m. Results will be posted throughout the day at www.naia.org.
