(LEBANON, Ill., April 1)—The McKendree University women's tennis team won four singles matches and two doubles matches Saturday to defeat Benedictine College (Kan.), 6-3.

In singles action, junior Jenny Mennerick (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) defeated Raminta Kazemkaytke in No. 2 singles, by scores of 6-3, 6-3. Senior No. 3 Sara Johnson (Effingham, Ill./Effingham) defeated Kristin Canon, 6-3 and 7-5. Junior Erin Thoman (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) won No. 4 singles 8-0 over Joselene Sturek and junior Lauren Szakielo (Troy, IL/Triad) (Troy, Ill./Triad) defeated Megan Kelly at No. 6 singles, 4-6, 2-1 (def.).

In doubles competition, the Bearcats won two of three matches. Johnson and Thoman defeated M. Kelly and Canon at No. 2 doubles, 8-3, and the No. 3 tandem of Szakielo and Kelly Beiermann (Godfrey, Ill./Marquette) won 8-4 over Sturek and C. Kelly.

McKendree will travel to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville today for a match at 3:30 p.m.
