(MILWAUKEE, Wis., August 30) – The McKendree University women's soccer team opened the 2008 season with a win Saturday after scoring two goals in the second half for the 2-0 win.
The Bearcats, 1-0 overall on the season, will play No. 9 Saint Xavier University Sunday at 2 p.m.
After a scoreless first half, junior forward Sarah Ryan (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) scored two goals on assists by junior back Kelsey Johnson (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) and junior midfielder Katelyn Cleveland (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) to lead the Bearcats to their first win of the season.
Sophomore Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) played all 90 minutes in goal and had two saves in the win.
