(ST. LOUIS, Mo., Sept. 18)—The McKendree University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision Thursday evening in an American Midwest Conference at Missouri Baptist University. The Spartans won by scores of 25-10, 22-25, 18-25 and 20-25.
The loss was the third consecutive defeated for the Bearcats. McKendree slips to 5-5 on the season and 1-2 in AMC play. Missouri Baptist improves to 5-6 overall and is perfect in AMC action at 3-0. McKendree will return to the court Tuesday at home against Stephens College. First serve for the AMC match is 7 p.m. at the Melvin Price Convocation Center.
Senior right-side hitter Lindsay Amerson (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) led McKendree with nine kills, while junior outside hitter Andrea Lucas (Festus, Mo./Festus) (Festus, Mo./Festus) and senior middle hitter Katelyn Kombrink (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) each posted seven attacks. Lucas added a team-high 15 digs as Kombrink notched five blocks and four service aces.
Senior setter Dana Maedge (Highland, Ill./Highland) (Highland, Ill./Highland) handed out a team-leading 19 assists.
