(St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 23) – The No. 22 McKendree University women's soccer team shutout Harris-Stowe State University 10-0 Tuesday afternoon in an American Midwest Conference match. The Bearcats had 44 shots in the contest and held the Hornets to zero shot attempts.
The Bearcats, now 6-0-1 overall and 2-0 in the AMC, will host William Woods University Saturday night at 7 p.m. for an AMC match.
Eight McKendree player's scored goal's in the contest and were led by freshman forward Erin Kilian (St. Louis, Mo./Kennedy)'s (St. Louis, Mo./Kennedy) two goals and two assists. Sophomore forward Ashley Varns (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) also scored two goals in the contest for her fifth and sixth of the season. Junior midfielder's Katelyn Cleveland (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville), Sarah Ryan (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) and sophomore back Sarah Eckelkamp (Arnold, Mo./Fox) (Arnold, Mo./Fox) all had a goal and an assist in the win. Freshmen midfielder Sulyn Keomanivane (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) scored her sixth goal of the season, sophomore midfielder/forward Megan Ansley (Troy, Ill./Triad) (Troy, Ill./Triad) scored her second goal on the year, and freshman back Chrissy Ghirardi (O'Fallon, Mo./Ft. Zumwalt South) (O'Fallon, Mo./Ft. Zumwalt South) recorded her first McKendree goal to round out the scoring. Sophomore Sam Hartman (Troy, Ill./Triad) (Troy, Ill./Triad) had one assist in the win.
Sophomore Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) and freshman Sarah Luecking (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) each played 45 minutes in goal for the team shutout win.
