(Lebanon, Ill., Sept. 27) – The No. 4 McKendree University men's soccer team improved to 9-0-1 on the season and 2-0 in the American Midwest Conference after a 8-0 win over William Woods University Saturday evening. Seven different player's scored for the Bearcats in the win.
Sophomore Max Stainmez (Holland, Ontario, Canada/Denison) (Holland Landing, Ontario/Canada) scored eight minutes into the contest on an assist from freshman Fraser Williams (Rhondda, England/) (Rhondda, England). Stainmez found sophomore Sam James (Southampton. England/Tauntons) (Southampton, England) eight minutes later to push the Bearcats lead to 2-0, before freshman Mitch Fear (Southampton. England/Tauntons) (Southampton, England) scored from senior Joey Lofink (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) with four seconds remaining in the first half.
McKendree scored five goals in the second half to put the game out of reach for the Owls and to improve to 2-0 in the American Midwest Conference. Freshman Joe Sagar (Oldham, England/Hulme) (Oldham, England) improved to 9-0-1 on the season and had one save. Junior Braden Posey (Bolingbrook, Ill./Naperville Central) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Naperville Central) played 21 minutes in goal and also had one save.
McKendree will host the University of Illinois at Springfield Wednesday at 7 p.m. for an AMC match.
