(LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 30)—The McKendree University volleyball team won its fourth consecutive American Midwest Conference match on Tuesday with a sweep at home against Hannibal-LaGrange College. The Bearcats took the best-of-five match by scores of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-12.
Senior right-side hitter Lindsay Amerson (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) registered a team-high nine kills to lead McKendree, The Bearcats have won five of their last six matches to improve to 10-6 overall. McKendree is now 5-2 in AMC play and will return to action this weekend at the Lindenwood University Invitational. The Bearcats will have two matches on Friday – against host Lindenwood at 3 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. contest against Evangel University.
Senior middle hitter Katelyn Kombrink (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) added eight attacks and a match-high three service aces, while junior outside hitter Andrea Lucas (Festus, Mo./Festus) (Festus, Mo./Festus) chipped in with seven kills. Sophomore middle hitter Carrie Brickey (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) registered a season-high nine blocks as senior setter Dana Maedge (Highland, Ill./Highland) (Highland, Ill./Highland) chipped in with 24 assists and 17 digs.
