SARAH RYAN RECORDS SECOND HAT TRICK OF SEASON, KATELYN CLEVELAND TIES MCKENDREE CAREER MARK IN ASSISTS IN 4-0 WIN OVER PRAIRIE STARS

Cleveland tied McKendree's career mark in assists in Tuesday night

(Lebanon, Ill., Sept. 30) – Junior midfielder Sarah Ryan (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) had three goals and an assist and junior midfielder Katelyn Cleveland (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) had two assists to tie the McKendree University career mark of 30 in the Bearcats women's soccer win over University of Illinois at Springfield 4-0.

 

McKendree, now 8-0-1 overall and 4-0 in the American Midwest Conference, travels to William Woods University Thursday for an AMC match at 4 p.m.

 

McKendree controlled the entire game and outshot the Prairie Stars 50-3 in the contest. In the 12th minute, Ryan (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) scored on an assist from Cleveland (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) to put the Bearcats up 1-0. Ryan struck again in the 23rd minute on an assist from sophomore Ashley Varns (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) and scored her third goal of the game and of the first half in the 34th minute from Cleveland. Freshman Sulyn Keomanivane (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) scored the final goal of the game on an assist from Ryan in the 71st minute to give the Bearcats the 4-0 win.

 

Sophomore goalkeeper Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain) improved to 8-0-1 on the season after playing 81 minutes and pulling in two saves. Freshman Cassie Lofink (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) played nine minutes and had one save.
